Tokushima Awa Odori
12~15 August 2012
Tokushima Station, Tokushima

Tokushima Awa Odori is an annual festival held in front of Tokushima station, originally built in 1578. This is one of the most famous dancing festivals in Japan. Awa is the old feudal administration name for Tokushima and Odori means dance. Participants do Awa Odori with an unique song. The song goes like this -  "Erai yaccha, erai yaccha, Yoi, yoi, yoi, yoi. Odoru aho ni, miru aho: The dancers are fools, The watchers are fools. Onaji aho nara, Odorana son, son: Both are fools alike so, Why don't you dance?." (Japanese only)
