HTB Cruise will run its first cruise ship service between Nagasaki and Shanghai on Feburary 29.
Between Feburary 29 and March 14, they will provide a one cruise ship service a week. After March 16, two ships will be run per week. Services are available at a cost of 9,800yen, or for advance bookings, tickets costs 7,800yen (one-way trip). At these costs, passengers are offered comfort-seats, located on 5th and 6th floor.

On January 20, Nankai Electric Rialway published a leaflet named P+natts, which is targetted at female audience, with multi-lingual pages for those who travel around Japan. On the back page, it has a map of Nanba area, and coupons written in Chinese, Korean and Japanese, which are available in Nanba city and Nanba park restaurants. You may obtain a copy at major stations along Nankai Electric Rialway, or find a copy in seat pockets of Rapi:t trains, an express rail service running from Kansai Airport.

On the first day of Chinese New Year, a number of department stores in Osaka held events and bargain sales targetted at foreign travelers especially from China. Daimaru department store set a special booth for recommended souvenirs, instant noodles and curry. In Nanba City, Nankai Electric Railway carried out a Chinese New Year event to entertain the travelers with a koto performance (traditional Japanese harp) and maccha (green tea). They also distributed guidebooks in 4 languages.

The most popular guidebook series in Russia, AFISHA, has published "AFISHA Japan" on 20 January 2012. This is the very first time a guidebook on Japan is published in the Russian language. AFISHA has published guidebooks on Italy and England. Japan is the third to be published.

Air China (CA) launched a regular flight service between Beijing and Naha, Okinawa on 11 January 2012. The airline currently runs two round-trip flights per week between the two cities. Air China has been interested in offering services to Okinawa, since the city has become an increasingly attractive destination for weddings and leisurely holidays, in addition to the visa factor whereby multi-entry visas are available to Chinese travelers.

On January 13, "Kumamoto Prefecture Singapore Top Sales Reception" was held in Singapore, introducing the Kumamoto cuisine to Singaporeans. Kumamoto tomatos, strawberrys and red sea breams were served at the reception. The vice prefectual governor, Yoshiyasu Hyotani hopes that this event not only brings further success to trading, but also attracts the local people to visit Kumamoto for its great food and hot springs.

Jetstar, one of the low cost airlines, announced that they are launching a new route between Narita and Darwin making four round trips per week via Manila, Filippines, starting March 26th. A one way economy class flight between Narita and Darwin starts at 23,000 yen. A flight between Narita and Manila is available from 10,000 yen. In addition, from the March 25th Jetstar will offer two round-trips per day between Kansai and Singapore via Taipei.

A Tourist Information Center(TIC) has just opened on January 2nd. It is on the first floor of Shin Tokyo Building at Marunouchi, Tokyo.
Staffs at TIC are always ready to help tourists. Pamphlets about Japanese tourism information in English, Chinese and Korean are also available.
On the second floor, you can use computers and Wi-Fi for free, or you can read books relating to Japanese culture, art and food.
There are also seminars where you can get hands-on experience of Japanese culture.
