In an effort to ease anxieties that tourists to Japan might have concering radioactivity or radiation exposure, the Japan Tourism Agency released this report based on the estimated radiation exposure or the amount of radioactivity that would be found in a typical three-meal day.


The findings were provided in 4 languages: English, Chinese, (both traditional and simplified) and Korean, and these translations will be used in future for promoting tourism from abroad.

Japan Tourism Agency to work together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and cooperating more strongly with JNTO offices overseas and other government establishments overseas. The plan is to coordinate 48 events and exhibits throughout 23 oversea markets. The idea is to make use of strengths and resources held by government establishments overseas in order to achieve an effective and efficient inbound promotion.

The Japan Tourism Agency announced that they will run a "Japan Thank you" campaign to thank all those who have supported Japan since the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake on 11 March 2011. The thank you campaign includes a range of initiatives including a welcome team at major airports, Tokyo Tower, Yokohama Marin Tower, Beppu Tower, and other tourist attractions will be lit up on 11 March, Takayama city in Gifu prefecture will be offering a number of free public transportations on 11 March.

The project titled Fly to Japan! (to offer flight tickets to 10,000 foreigners with high potential to communicate Japan's attractions), which had been covered in a number of media in autumn this year, was not approved as a governmental draft budget of FY 2012.

Although a number of media outlets have publicized about the offering of 10.000 free flights to foreigners visiting Japan, this is an initiative to be implemented from April 2012 onwards, which is still under examination for budgetary approval.
